Our Story · Since 1977
49 Years on
Main Street.
One family. One corner. One standard. World O' Suds® has washed Apopka's laundry since 1977, and the whole story is still hanging on the wall at 430 E Main St.
The Founder
Ken Voll.
Born in Chicago in 1938. Ken learned the trade there. Car washes and coin laundries, nearly twenty years of doing the work before he ever saw Main Street.
In 1977 he brought his family to Apopka and opened World O' Suds®. He brought a Chicago work ethic and a simple belief. Do the job right. Treat people right. Put faith and family first. Keep showing up.
To customers, Ken was known for kindness, consistency, and a quiet strength. You were more than a customer. You were a friend. Generous beyond belief and funny without trying. His faith was the foundation under all of it.
Ken Voll did not just open a laundromat. He built a place Apopka remembered. The full tribute, written by his family, hangs on the wall in the store.

Year by Year
The Timeline.
Kenneth Marvin Voll is born in Chicago, Illinois. He learns the wash business there. Car washes and coin laundries, almost two decades of it, before Florida.
Ken moves his family from Chicago to Central Florida and opens World O' Suds Coin Laundry on E. Main Street in Apopka.
The Volls put down roots. The store starts washing all the linens for the Apopka Fire Department emergency ambulance. Free of charge.
Ken fights utility hikes to keep washing affordable for his customers.
The store expands. More machines. More room. More of Apopka walking through the door.
The team grows. Some of the people who joined in these years still serve Apopka families today.
Mike Thomas features Ken and the laundromat in his Restless Native column in Florida Magazine. The illustration reads World's Best Laundry. The marquee answers: BETTER THAN CHEESECAKE. WE ARE NO 1. The framed article still hangs in the store.
Ken Voll passes. Everything he built keeps running. Same corner. Same standard.
Still family-owned. Same corner. 8,000 square feet. 200+ washers and dryers. 600+ Google reviews. Open daily 6AM to 11PM. Outdoor laundry open 24 hours.
Fifty years on Main Street.
Then and Now
Some People Inherit a Business.
The Harder Thing Is to Build on One.
What Ken rooted into the ground on Main Street, the next operator took and made the nicest store in the area. Not once. Every year.
The philosophy is simple and it never changes. Money goes back into the store. Back into the customers. New machines. Cleaner floors. Better than it was last year, every year. You cannot copy that, because copying it means showing up for it. Every morning. Before the doors open.
Walk in today and you will probably see it. Boots on the floor. Talking to customers. Fixing what needs fixing before anyone asks. The phone gets answered. The floor gets walked. Both.
